Montebello Unified School District wants to be a "bully-free zone."

The rules seem so simple.

1. We will not bully others.

2. We will help students who are being bullied.

3. We will include others who are left out.

4. If we know that someone is being bullied we will tell an adult.

But at a time when almost half of all kids say they have been bullied – these rules seem even more important. Montebello Unified School District has begun to hold assemblies featuring a film called “Teen Truth Live: Bully and School Violence.”

The 22-minute film was made by students and challenges them to think about how their actions – and reactions – impact those around them.

The district says their goal is to stop bullying before it ever starts.
