Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ)

Our mental health providers, including the new hires and interns under our Prop 47 grant, use the evidence-based Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) which measures internalizing/externalizing behaviors and is used in a pre/post format for students referred for mental health services.

PUSD utilizes evidence-based screening tools (SDQ, and U-360) that help to ensure that children and youth are identified earlier and gain access to treatment and other support services. Studies show that the way to integrate mental health services and shift the overall school culture is to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to support the academic, social and emotional needs of each student, linking each domain to the others.
